Training
Training and practice
Learning to hold another person well — with skill, with ethics, and with the voice of love.
Some people come to learn a craft they will use with others; some come to go deeper in themselves. Both belong here. What I teach is practical, it is practised in pairs and in small groups, and it is always held inside a conversation about ethics, boundaries and consent.
My teaching comes out of psychology and out of the performing arts as much as out of healing: a practitioner needs to listen, to be present, to hold a room, and to know the difference between what belongs to the other person and what belongs to them.
Formats
- Weekend and evening modules
- Small groups, so everyone is seen
- One-to-one mentoring
- Practice partnerships between sessions
- Supervision as you begin to work
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy training
A grounded training in how to guide another person into trance, how to speak once they are there, and how to bring them safely back. We spend as much time on the witness as on the technique: what you notice, how you pace someone, when to say nothing at all.
Foundations
- What trance is, and what it is not
- Consent, contracting and the ethics of influence
- Induction: breath, gaze, language, rhythm
- Deepening, and reading the signs of depth
- Suggestion — how it is heard, and how it is refused
- Coming back: safely, gently, and completely
- Supervised practice in pairs, from the first weekend
Continuing and advanced
- Working with anxiety, pain, sleep and habits
- Trauma-aware practice, and knowing your limits
- Grief, and the trance states that arise by themselves
- The voice as an instrument of suggestion — tone, pace, silence
- Self-hypnosis, and teaching it to others
- Case supervision as you begin to work
Training is offered as small group modules with supervised practice between them, and as one-to-one mentoring for those who prefer to learn privately.
This is a professional development training. It does not confer a licence to practise medicine or psychotherapy, and it does not replace the requirements of your own profession or country. If you are not sure what applies to you, ask, and we will work it out together.
Taoist practice workshops
Workshops in the Healing Tao practices I have received through the lineage of Mantak Chia. These are days of doing rather than listening: you will leave with practices you can continue at home.
- The Inner Smile — meeting your own organs, and yourself, with warmth
- The Six Healing Sounds — sound, breath and release
- The Microcosmic Orbit — circulating energy through the central channel
- Chi Nei Tsang — gentle abdominal work for practitioners and for yourself
- Grounding, standing and rooting — the practice that holds all the others
Open to anyone, in any body, at any level of experience. No previous practice is needed, and nothing needs to be believed.
Embodied prayer circles
We meet to pray with the whole body: with breath, sound, movement and stillness, each person praying as they are able, all of us together. There is nothing to perform and nothing to get right. Some come with a name to hold up to the light, some come simply to be in a room where love is being spoken.
Circles are held in person and online, and are open to people of any faith or none. Write to me and I will tell you when the next one meets.
Mentoring for practitioners
For healers, therapists, coaches, nurses, doctors, artists and teachers who are already working with people — and who need somewhere to bring the parts that are hard to hold alone.
Mentoring is a steady, private space: we look at your work, your boundaries, the cases that follow you home, and the voice you speak to yourself in when nobody is listening. It can include supervision of hypnosis or energy work, or be simply a place to rest and be met.
Usually monthly or fortnightly, in person or at a distance, for as long as it is useful.
What people bring
A client they cannot stop thinking about. A boundary that has gone soft. Fear of their own power. The exhaustion that comes from giving out all day. A longing to work more truthfully than they were trained to. Or nothing in particular — just a place to be received rather than to give.
Dates and enrolment
The next intakes and workshop dates are being arranged. Write to me with what you are drawn to, and I will send the details as soon as they are set — and tell you honestly whether it is the right training for you.
